Maalouf meets Tone Raft, also known as Tone Pilates.

Tones life and work revolve around a deeply holistic relationship with movement.

As a Pilates instructor at the renowned Lanserhof and the lead teacher at Ara’kai Practice, Tone approaches the body with a philosophy that blends precision, intuition, and healing. For her, movement is not simply exercise; it is medicine, ritual, and a pathway to reconnecting with oneself.

We meet with Tone a november morning at the beautiful Arakai Pratice in inner city.

IN CONVERSATION WITH
TONE RAFT

Q:
Who are you, and what do you do?

A: I'm a classically certified Pilates Instructor teaching Pilates with a holistic approach to the body.

Q: How did you first connect with Maalouf?
A: I researched undyed underwear since I had struggled to find a brand that shared my approach to the materials I put on.

Q: In a world that often feels fast-paced and unpredictable, how do you approach the things you buy and hold onto?
A:  I take care of the things I own in the same way I take care of my body.

Tone's morning ritual begins with a warm cup of green tea and a Nomio shot to gently kickstart her day.

Q:
What is your earliest underwear memory?

A: Well more a memory of not wearing it, I was what you would call a Steiner child and preferred not wearing anything.

Q: What has been your underwear journey?
A: The skin is our biggest organ so it's been very important for me to find underwear that is as clean as I try to keep my body.

Q:
Is there such a thing as the perfect piece?

A: The simpler the better in my view, I wear my Maalouf tee almost daily both on and off of the mat.

Q: Is there such a thing as the perfect piece?
A: The simpler the better in my view, I wear my maalouf tee almost daily both on and off of the mat.

Q: Do you wear underwear as outerwear?
A: I wear it as everything, prefer to keep it simple.

Q: Do you have “going out” underwear?
A: No, I find beauty in simplicity and Maalouf is the only underwear brand I wear.

Q: Is there a piece of art, film or literature that you remember because of the underwear?
A: Well again more in the lack thereof, the basic instinct scene with Sharon Stone has always been iconic in my mind.

Last but not less important…

Q: What is a perfect meal or dish to be enjoyed when you’re just in your underwear?
A: Well, as well as my underwear I like to keep my eating habits clean and simple, a good clean organic steak, while standing in the kitchen, feels so nourishing.

Thank you Tone, and Arakai Practice, for welcoming us and allowing us to visit.
