"Maalouf Meets"
— is a journal series where we explore conversations with inspiring individuals.

Meet Ulrikke Toft Simonsen, an architecture student who grew up in Aarhus, Denmark.

Today, Ulrikke has built her own family with her husband, (musician, Lord Siva) and their two children, Norma and Billy, and their family dog, Paula. They live in a beautiful, old house just outside Copenhagen, Denmark where they’ve preserved the integrity of the original house while making it their own.

Ulrikke’s life is also reflected by the tattoos, sporadically placed on her skin—many of which she made herself, each one telling its own story.

Alongside raising her family, Ulrikke is studying architecture at the Royal Danish Academy while working as a model and content creator. She values the simplicity of everyday life and approaches parenthood with the belief that happiness comes from aligning expectations with reality!

On that note, please read our Q&A with Ulrikke <3

IN CONVERSATION WITH
ULRIKKE TOFT SIMONSEN

Q: Who are you, and what do you do?

A:
"I am an architecture student and a mother of two"

Q: How did you first connect with Maalouf?

A: "Through instagram"

Q: In a world that often feels fast-paced and unpredictable, how do you approach the things you buy and hold onto?

A: "I really try to prolong the life of the things that I already own and love. I take good care of my clothes and wash them with care, and I also do repairs for tailoring myself when needed. The same goes for our furniture and other belongings. I really love to get nerdy about all types of materials and find good ways to make them last long or turn them into something new"

Q:
What is your earliest underwear memory?

A: "Sneaking in and borrowing stuff from my mothers closet as a teenager"

Q: What has been your underwear journey?

A: "I think it has definitely been a journey towards a higher level of comfort, especially since becoming a mother. but also choosing materials that doesn't itch or irritate my skin, while still hugging my body and making me feel sexy"

Q:
Is there such a thing as the perfect piece?

A:

"I think the Maalouf thong really has a perfect fit - it's a barely-there experience while you're wearing it, but it still shapes your hips and bum a little - it's really good."

Q:
Do you wear underwear as outerwear?

A: "I do like to wear underwear when I go out. Either a loose shirt that's unbuttoned and therefore shows a little bra, or maybe something super see-through"

Q:
Do you have “going out” underwear?

A: "I do"

Q:
Has there been an occasion where the underwear made you fall in love with someone?

A: "Actually my underwear was out during my wedding, because my Jacquemus dress was see-through - SOOOO many people had an opinion on that, it's kinda funny."

Q: Is there a piece of art, film or literature that you remember because of the underwear?

A: "The picture "Tennis Girl"- by Martin Elliot hung on the wall in my girlfriends room when i first moved out from my parents when i was 18 - now this photo just makes me reminisce this time of being young and carefree"

Last but not less important…

Q: What is a perfect meal or dish to be enjoyed when you’re just in your underwear?

A: "strawberries and fresh cream in the garden in august"

Thank you, Ulrikke for joining our third journal and for welcoming us into your beautiful home and to Katrine Møbius for the stunning pictures and great collaboration <3

All the best - Until next time!
